Slickscreen 1.3.2.3

Slickscreen Editor's Review

Slickscreen allows you to browse, record, annotate and share web pages. It can be used to browse the Internet by having more than one web page visible at a time. Each web page is displayed in a separate resizable panel.

Slickscreen is recommended for people who use a high resolution display. At first, I didn't find this software very useful, but over time I realized that I was using it more and more. It's nice to have an application that can organize your web session.

SlickScreen's toolbars can be set to automatically hide themselves, providing even more space for the web pages you open. A very nice thing about this program is the fact that it allows you to share the webpages you open with anyone connected to the Internet. This feature uses the publisher's server to send e-mails and to share the pages.

Another useful feature is the program's ability to "grab" applications from your workspace and display them on one of its panels. After a couple of hours of working on this review, I pressed the "Strip View" button from the toolbar. It took about 30 seconds for the application to display all the screenshots it had captured during my writing this review. The application stopped responding, but recovered immediately afterwards.

Pluses: The application allows you to post links to your del.icio.us account directly from the toolbar. Another nice thing about this program is the fact that you can customize its appearance by using skins.

Drawbacks / flaws:

In conclusion: Although this software is free, several features (including the page snapshots and the home pages configuration) are not available until you upgrade to the paid version. It was a bit annoying to have buttons (shortcuts to unavailable features) that don't work on the user interface.
